Our Services

We are a small team of independent qualified therapists offering a range of therapies to individuals, couples and families.

Individual therapy

This is a one to one session for individuals. We offer this service face to face from our Whetstone office or online.

Couple’s therapy

Relationships can be complicated, this service is for couples; whether it’s helping new couples navigate their relationship dynamic or supporting established couples looking for ways to salvage their relationship, as well as those looking to end their relationship amicably.

Family therapy

Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy that can help family members improve communication and resolve conflicts. It may include all family members or just those able or willing to participate. Family therapy sessions can teach you skills to deepen family connections and get through stressful times, even after you're done going to therapy sessions.

Our Approaches

We are trained in various approaches and work in a way that means more than one approach can be used when working with one client. This is called working integratively; using one primary modality, whilst incorporating all approaches by drawing on various healing approaches from each healing method to suit each client personally.

Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy

Person centred

Unlike cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred counselling does not usually involve homework between sessions or an emphasis on techniques. Similarly, unlike psychodynamic counselling, the person-centred approach does not always focus on past events in a client’s life. Person-centred counselling is often about what’s going on in a person’s life now. This is our core modality at Therapy & Me.

In this approach, the client is considered the expert on their life and the therapist works to understand their world from their point of view. In doing so they build a relationship and work with them to explore their path toward self development. All whilst encouraging authenticity, self-acceptance and trust.

Islamic Counselling and psychotherapy

Islamic

The relationship between a client and their creator is not something that is routinely looked at or prioritised in mainstream counselling. Islamic counselling takes many different forms, however, our approach is to incorporate spirituality into the therapeutic relationship, offering information from the Qur’an and sunnah whilst drawing the boundary at telling you what to do. We will explore your family relationships, culture and beliefs. Our training encourages an awareness of Islamic ethics and cultural differences and sometimes we have to separate culture from Islam.

Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic

The main focus of this approach is to look at the unconscious content of the client’s mind. In this dynamic the client is encouraged to explore their past and childhood experiences. Success in this approach is heavily reliant on the relationship between the client and their therapist as trust is crucial to develop open communication and safe exploration. By identifying and resolving past traumas it is felt that inner conflict and tensions can be alleviated and current distresses that are being felt can begin to be worked on.

Integrative counselling and psychotherapy

Integrative

One size doesn’t fit all in therapy, and the integrative approach combines different styles of counselling so that therapy can suit each client’s specific needs at any given time.

The integrative approach assumes that each person is unique and that no single approach to therapy can address the physical, social, spiritual, emotional and psychological needs of all people. Life experiences are different for everyone and the integrative approach acknowledges these differences.
